Intervention Unit

Basic principles of effective early intervention are 1) Entry into early intervention as soon as diagnosis done 2) Providing intensive intervention with active engagement of the child 40 hr per week, according to ABA, in systematically planned & developmentally appropriate educational activities designed for individual on the basis of IEP. Low student to teacher ratio helps to allow sufficient amounts of 1 on 1 time and small group helps to meet specific individualized goals as well as to learn to follow instructions, waiting, turn taking, socialization etc.

Our intervention timing is 9:30 am to 5 pm (approx 7 hr x 5 days = 35 hours per week). We use visual schedules and routines in a structured environment to develop proper learning in particular, communication and social skills, independence, coping skills and skills for daily life like dressing, washing, brushing teeth and so on. Under one roof, we provide special education, occupational therapy, Sensory integration therapy, physio therapy, yoga, play (both Indoor & Outdoor), Art & Craft, ADL, Self-help skill, Music, Dance & Drama etc. Our whole team is working on every child in a more coordinated and effective way under one roof. After complete assessment Individualized education program (IEP) is made. Goal plan will be reviewed once in every 3 months and achievement report will be given to the parents. Each and every activity is documented and shared to parents so that they are aware of the whole activities and follow the same in the home to get the better result. We use visual schedules for every children at all times to become their life more predictable. Our team also visit child's home in a regular interval to structure/monitor the home set up. Teachers and staffs are continuously getting trained through workshops, seminars and hands on internal training etc. PTM is called once in every month for better parent –teacher interaction. Observation session by both parents and management team will be done once in every 3 months and one month respectively. Our unit is under complete CCTV surveillance and each and every moment is monitored and recorded.

Behaviour-based approaches to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) focus on teaching children new behaviours and skills by using specialised, structured techniques. These techniques are the best teaching tools for developing skills and encouraging appropriate behaviour. According to Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA which works by hitching the scientific principles of behavior into the everyday tasks and skills, intervention should be up to 40 hours per week. Research done in the late 1980's by Ole Ivar Lovaas showed that roughly 50% of kids who received early and intense ABA (40 hours per week) were indistinguishable from their peers after several years. Children on the autism spectrum vary in the severity of the condition. The same can be said of developmental delays. The ability of the therapist to structure his intervention to the needs and abilities of the child is an important characteristic of the approach, but parental support and involvement is vital.

Developmental approaches to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) aim to help children form positive, meaningful relationships with other people. They focus on teaching children social and communication skills in everyday, structured settings. They also aim to help children develop skills for daily living.

Combined approach (approaches combine elements of behavioural and developmental methods,) is the most effective because it brings together characteristics of several good interventions. For example, any behavioural intervention will be much more effective if it's also family-based.

TEACCH, or the Educational/School Model is the most structured of the programs and is delivered in a highly structured classroom environment. Visual cues are foundational components of this method. The TEACCH method uses schedules and routines along with learned patterns like working from left-to-right to teach different skills. Although the intervention is classroom-based, it focuses on issues besides academic learning. The TEACCH program is used to promote learning and development – in particular, communication and social skills, independence, coping skills and skills for daily life like dressing, washing, cleaning teeth and so on. The way TEACCH is used depends on the age of the person involved.

TEACCH program might focus on early intervention for a young child or supported employment for an adult.

Therapy-based approaches to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) provide a specific therapy that targets specific difficulties. Eg. Occupational therapy to develop skills for daily life, including physical skills, language - communication therapy to develop a child's communication and social skills. Therapy-based approaches are often used together with, or as part of, other intervention programs.

Prevocational & Vocational Unit

Self-respect and independence are the key elements of adult life. Hands-on training is provided to persons with special needs to develop their vocational skills for successful community and job setting through basic computer training and other activities, social skill training, ADL, & home skill training, etc.

Home Program

Home programs are made for the parents of long distance. Initially after through assessment IEP is being prepared and detailed Home program is given to the parents. Preferred visit twice in a month to max. 3 months. Parents and care givers are continuously trained so that they execute the whole planning given in that duration with their child at home. Next visits involve follow up, review, re-planning, if required, and planning and training.

NIOS OBE Program

Under "Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA)", the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has been endeavoring to provide Basic Education to all children, youth and adults in the country. The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has launched the Open Basic Education (OBE) Programme, as an alternative educational programme, equivalent to the Elementary Education Programme of the formal education system.

The OBE Programme explores and makes use of the potentialities of Distance Education Mode (DEM) for reaching the unreached. The Foundation Course of NIOS has been subsumed into the Open Basic Education (OBE) Programme. There is a provision of separate OBE programme for children and adults.
